Thanks for the info. What I would love to find is information on George E. Coleman born about 1820 in PA. He married Mary Jan Stollback or Stotlebuck (b abt 1821) in PA. He was on the 1860 census but not on the 1870 census. My guess is he went away to war and never came back. She apparently died in Shelby County on 25 Feb 1908 but I don't know where she is buried.
Their first child, Margaret, was born in PA 7 Jan 1842. She married James R. Davis (both lived and apparently died in Macon County--but I can't find death records on either one.) Their children basically faded away also.
Their second child was Elizabeth born in MO on 21 May 1847--I have no idea what happened to her after the 1860 census.
Their third child, Malinda was born in MO 25 Feb 1849. She married James Richard Cupp. Both apparently died in LaPlata, but like Margaret I don't know where they are buried and their children's descendants aren't to be found.
Their fourth child was George Coleman, born 26 Feb 1851. I don't know what happened to him after the 1870 census.
Francis Marion Coleman was their last child. He is the one buried in Bowen Cemetery. Lillie Adna Coleman Pennington was my grandmother. Unknown to her, her marriage to Henry Wise Pennington was bigamous. Her brother's found out and chased him off. He went back to WV to his first wife and, according to family folklore, "took the fall" for his son for running a still. He died shortly thereafter in the Atlanta Fed Penitentuary. His death certificate says the body was returned to WV. I have no idea where he is buried either. Lillie and my parents are all buried in Mt Olive Cemetery in Shafter.
But, George and Mary Jane are brick walls for me. I can't find any other descendants researching this line either.
Thanks for what you found!!!
