This is very interesting. I was discussing (and learning more about) the histories of Mont Helena and the Chapel of the Cross just the other day. The websites for both Mont Helena and Chapel of the Cross reference their relation along with that to Annandale, Livingston and Johnstone, all of which are now subdivisions in Madison County. I did notice though that the Mont Helena website indicates Livingston as being "present day Madison" which is not the case as of this present day. Present day Livingston is in Madison County, but is an unincorporated community referenced as the Town of Livingston. It is a very charming community. I believe all residents and businesses of the Town of Livingston have a Flora, Mississippi postal code.
Also...and this is of particular interest to me....There has been a Montessori School situated on the property of the Chapel of the Cross (Madison County, MS) for many years. It was housed and operated in an old home that was moved onto the property by previous owners and is probably about the same age as the Manship House (circo 1857?). There were a couple additions to the Montessori School in later years. Sadly, the Montessori School closed its doors during the summer of this year. I am not entirely sure what will happen to the old house. There are a number of us that would love to see that the old house (former Montessori School) is preserved and documented as a historical place. From what I understand, it is now being used as a "storage shed."
Here are some links to Mont Helena, Chapel of the Cross, Annandale, and Livingston. The website for Johnstone appears to be private. http://www.monthelena.com/historyhttp://chapelofthecrossms.org/about-us/our-history/https://www.theannandalegolfclub.com/Historyhttps://thetownoflivingston.com/livingston-history/
