Found....SARATOGA SPRINGS Richard J. Cherry, 87, of Albany St., passed away July 28, 2006 at the Wesley Health Care Center. Born in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., he was a son of the late John W. and Minnie K. (Smith) Cherry. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and worked over 25 years at the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in 1970. As a native Saratogian, he was always interested in the health, history and horse atmosphere of Saratoga Springs, offering a wealth of knowledge about the city's past. He was an avid follower of horseracing and enjoyed the natural spring waters. Survivors include two daughters, Candace Salvi of Saratoga Springs and Marlene Coleman of Monroe, Mich.; one son, William M. Cherry of Saratoga Springs; two brothers, William Cherry of Saratoga Springs and Vincent Cherry of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one sister, Arlene Pratt of Scottsdale; 11 grandchildren, including his companion and special friend, Sean Daley; and many great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Bethesda Episcopal Church, corner of Broadway at Washington Street. Private military interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
