Donna Marie (Iacono) Heil also known as “Grandma Donna” to many who knew her passed away at the Sandstone Health Care Center on April 18, 2019 at the age of 86.
Donna was born on February 23, 1933 to Samuel and Ruby (Saunders) Iacono in Minneapolis, MN. She went to and graduated from North High School in Minneapolis. Donna was always a busy person and waitressed while she was in school and for a short time after she graduated. Then she went to work at RB Painting and worked for the company as a “masker” until her retirement in 1994. Donna married Robert Heil in 1964, they celebrated their 50th anniversary before he passed away in 2014. Donna loved to do gardening, painting, adult coloring and crafts. One of the things that Donna always looked forward to was her role as a foster grandparent, hence her name “Grandma Donna”.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, and one brother. She is survived by her daughters, Barb Heil, Gerri Gallimore, DeLynn Heil; son, David Heil; four brothers; one sister; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Worship Center in Sandstone, MN.
