John Shober, age 91, of Hinckley, passed away on 12/30/2017 in Duluth, MN.
John Edward Shober was born on January 14, 1926, in Sandstone, MN to John and Edith (Holm) Shober. He attended school in Sandstone and Hinckley. John was drafted into the Army and served during WWII in New Guinea, Phillipines, and Japan. He married Ethel Guptill on June 10, 1950 at First Lutheran Church in Hinckley. John worked for the Great Northern Railroad in Hinckley and Superior for 30 years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the V.F.W, and Legion. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, gardening, visiting with people and watching MN Vikings and Twins games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith Shober. Siblings, Robert Shober, Phillip Shober, Edna Shober, and Genevieve Brandt.
John is survived by his wife Ethel Irene Shober of Duluth, sons Tom (Joanne) Shober of Arizona, John Shober of Superior, WI, David (Julie) Shober of Duluth, Jerry Shober of Hinckley, Paul (Dianne) Shober of Duluth, daughters Julie (Robert) Noffsinger of Carlton, Jennifer (Brett) Nelson of Duluth, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral 11:00am Friday, 1/5/2018 at First Lutheran Church, Hinckley with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Burial at Lutheran Memorial Cemetery with full military honors by the Hinckley Honor Guard.
