Mary Elizabeth (Hejny) Clark, 62 died peacefully in her home on October 12, 2017. Mary Elizabeth Hejny was born on August 23, 1955 to Don and Celma Hejny. She graduated from Sandstone High School in 1973 and went on to attain her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica in 1977.
Mary worked in nursing for over 40 years. She was a public health nurse, school nurse and for most of her career worked as an RN for the hospital in Sandstone. She was a professional, but most importantly a compassionate nurse. When patients and their families entered the hospital emergency room, they would feel comforted when they saw Mary was working.
Mary and Mike Clark were united in marriage in 1975 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sandstone, MN. Mary loved to travel with her family. She and Mike took cross country camping trips with the kids, and later vacations to Europe. Every summer Mary enjoyed her sisters’ trip. However, her favorite place to spend time was the family cabin on Grindstone Lake. Many happy memories were made there with family and friends. She spent many sunny days swimming or kayaking with her grandchildren on the lake.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents Don and Celma Hejny and her father and mother-in-law Bob and Dotty Clark.
Mary is survived by her husband Mike of Hinckley, daughter Angie (Tim) Presley of Sandstone and son Tony (Alissa) of Hinckley; grandchildren Kaitlin, Belle, Addie and Declan Presley, Asher, Paisley and Faye Clark. She is also survived by brother Jim of Grasston, sisters Paula (Thom) Jesberg of East Bethel, Cathy (Chuck) Von Rueden of Duluth, Muffy (Bill) Guptill of North Branch and Jannie (Marshal) Donoho of Brooklyn Park, brother- in- law Tim (Theresa) Clark of Hinckley and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by many including her hospital family of co-workers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hinckley, MN, with Father Sirba officiating. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Tatting-Methven Funeral Home with prayer service beginning at 6 p.m. Burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Hinckley, MN.
