Annelle Orcella Galvin passed away on June 30, 2017 in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 74. Annelle was born on August 15, 1942 in Cokato, MN to Frederic and Geneva Brandes. She grew up in Askov, Minnesota, and was a member of the Askov High School Class of 1960. Annelle married Pat Galvin on April 6, 1958. They were happily married for 59 years.
The most important thing in Annelle’s life was her family. She was a accomplished home cook, insisting on making everything from scratch, much to the delight of her husband, friends and family. She also mastered computer skills, creating custom cards for birthdays and holidays, participating in the Fountain of the Sun Computer Club, and tutoring others in Printmaster Classes.
Annelle had an adventuresome spirit and loved to travel, especially to the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Western United States. She & her husband Pat became “snowbirds” in 1988; they spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona, and summers in Askov, Minnesota.
Annelle was preceded in death by her parents, Frederic and Geneva, her brother, Fred Brandes, Jr., sister, Dr. Annette Brandes and two infant sisters. She is survived by her husband, Pat Galvin of Mesa, Arizona, her daughter Elizabeth (Peter) Rutan, son John (Leslie) Galvin, and daughters Kimberly (Bob) Garcia all from Sacramento, California, and Terri Morris of Askov, Minnesota. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Caitlin and Peter Andrew Rutan, Patrick Garcia, Jacob and Anthony Adams, and Jeremy Bielefeld.
A memorial service will be held at the Askov Community Center in Askov, MN on Monday, July 17th at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Serenity Hospice and Palliative Care, 2999 North 44th Street, Suite 225, Phoenix, Arizona 85018.
