Jane P. Abrahamsen died unexpectedly at her home in Sandstone, MN on Thursday, May 4, 2017. She was 78 years old.

She was born on November 8, 1938 in Lindstrom Minnesota. She moved to Askov Minnesota where she graduated in 1956. She married Gene Abrahamsen on November 1, 1958. They lived in Duluth, Little Falls, Brainerd, and Sandstone.

Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved all of her family and always enjoyed getting together with them. She was a wonderful cook and baker and according to her grandson, made the best applesauce ever! She was also an exceptional seamstress and could even put the air back into Clyde! She loved to play 500 with family and for many years played with her card club and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Following the death of her husband, Jane moved to Wild River Apartments in Sandstone where she made many friends and was happy for many years.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband Gene Abrahamsen, parents Ted and Paula Hansen, sister Inga Patton, and brother-in-laws Bill Patton and Jack Berres.

Jane is survived by daughters Sandra (Mike) Cortese, Wausau, WI, Lisa (Charlie) Okroi, Pierz, MN, and Bonnie Kalchev, Oceanside, CA; grandchildren Christopher, Jamie and Sara Cortese, Kenneth Okroi, and Kristina Kalchev; great-granddaughter Sophie Gene Cortese; brother Robert (LaVonne) Hansen; sister Ann Berres; and brother-in-law Jim (Ruth) Abrahamsen. She is also survived by many nieces, one nephew, and many great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Methven Funeral Home in Sandstone with Rev. Chris Cundiff officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Askov.
