Lauretta Frances Teich, 89, of Duluth, formerly of Bemidji, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
Lauretta was born on March 20, 1924 in Carlinville, IL to Carl and Helen Bettis. She married Herbert C. “Bud” Teich on November 10, 1948 in International Falls. During their years together they owned and operated many businesses throughout Minnesota, including the Ford Garage in Baudette, the Duluth Motel in Duluth, and the Paul Bunyan Motel in Bemidji.
Lauretta had a passion for baking. Her other talents included her ability to play the piano by ear. She volunteered her musical ability to Bemidji area nursing homes for over 30 years. Lauretta enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an extraordinary mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; sisters, Maxine, Gracie and Bonnie; and special sister-in-laws, Florence Edin and Alyce Owen.
Lauretta is survived by her daughters, Lois Teich and Emily Sickmann; Grandchildren, Nathan and Katie Sickmann; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke’s Hospice, Dr. Michael Huska, and the staff at Viewcrest Health Center, “Canal Park”.
Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 410 South Main Street, in Pine City, MN.
