Thank you so much for the burial information. This is, in fact, the one and the same William Lietz that I was looking for. Here's his obituary notice, published in the Rochester Post Bulletin on September 30, 1938:
"William Lietz, long a Dover area resident, was found dead in his chair yesterday when his son and daughter found him after returning from a trip to Rochester. He was 84 years old. Mr. Lietz, who came to this area 55 years ago, had been in failing health the past two years. Surviving are two sons and a daughter, Freda and William, at home, and Arnold, resident on a nearby farm near the home of Mr. Lietz five miles north of Dover. His wife died 18 years ago. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 1 PM in the home and at 1:30 PM in St. Paul's Evangelical church in Viola township, with interment in the Dover cemetery."
So 1885 is not Freda's death date, and is most probably her birth date. I'm really not sure as to the relation of Florence Lietz, as she was not listed as a survivor on William's obituary notice.
I can't thank you enough for the information. If there's anything you need in Cook County, Illinois, please let me know.
