I have accessed the records on line (www.familysearch.org
). I know some latin but no french or german.
I accessed a site that listed the passenger list from Antwerp Belgium (http://belgium.rootsweb.com
). The SS Zeeland departed 7/25/1879 for NY. It list George (age) (50), Cath (52), George (63), unknown (11, male), Maria (10), Cath (9), Jos (17) going to Wichita, Ks. (I know this is in Sedgewick County -I live in Kansas City).
My gg grandfather Carl Thimmesch, b. 11 Nov 1825, in Steimhiem,Luxembourg emigrated in @ 1846 with his brother Nicolas. Do not know if they are related to those mentioned above on the passenger list.
My Grandmother was Theresa Elizabeth Thimmesch (married John B. Koel) in Tipton, Ks (Mitchell County). Most of John Koel's relatives from Tipton & Beloit, Ks. They were, I believe, 5th cousins.I have the LDS record back through both of grandparents back several generations.
I show Nicolas Thimmesch ( he is my 5g grandfather) born in Olm about 1728. Married Catharina Welter on 21 Dec 1742 in Moesdorf, Mersch, Luxembourg
