What a terrific find for the right family. I do not know if we are doing the same family or not??
Brita Kijsa Anderson, born April 08, 1833, Sweden married to
????Erickson. or Erik ???or unknown Anderson. They had several children: John A. (later used Anderson as last nameand “Little John” was his nickname to distinguish from his stepfather) born May 18, 1864 in Sweden and the others were possibly named Charlie, Walter, Berthine and Berthine (or were they were cousins) One possible lead is a Brita Caisa Andersson that emigrated from Varnum (Warnum) parish, Älvsborg Län, Sweden in 1871 with son Johan-age 7 at the time.
Erickson/or ??Anderson died and Brita re- married- about 1870- Johnnes Andreasson,(later known as John Anderson) Brita was working as a cook in a lumber camp in ??Minnesota. In the 1880 census of Lac Qui Parle County, Madison Township, Brita used the name “Betsy” and that is how her death is registered-May 09, 1883 Madison, MN
Betsy and John Anderson had several children: Beda Anderson, born August 10, 1873, Frederick? born 1875-79, died before 1880, and Karl August (aka Charles Albert) born August 3, 1879. All born at Madison, MN.
BetsyÂ’s other children were not listed with them in the 1880 census.
Our story says they lived with other relatives..but who?Andersons in Carver county??
I am hoping to establish BetsyÂ’s family line back in Sweden.
Another Anderson Family:
Anderson/Andreasson Family: of Augumentsgården, Magra parish, Älvsborg Län,
Sweden. The parents were: Andreas Svensson, born November 27, 1803 in Melby, married to Annika Larsdotter, born November 5, 1810 in Magra.
Their children are:
Anders Andreasson, born May 20, 1830 in Magra-no sign of him
(is he the first husband of Brita Kijsa???)
Maja Andreasdotter, born June 29, 1832 in Magra married 1855 to Johannes Jonsson born 1829 with children: Anders, born 1856, Gustaf, born 1858, Anna Greta, born 1861, and Christina, born 1864-this family took over Augumentsgården after Andreas Svensson.
Anders Andreasson, born January 12, 1836 in Magra married 1866 to Inga Kasin HÃ¥konsdotter Kronn, born July 25, 1843 in Skarstad with children:
Augusta, born March 27, 1867, Anna Greta, born January 31, 1869, Carl
Herman, born December 31, 1870, Johan Albin, born march 21, 1873, Fritz
Theodor, born March 11, 1875, Johanna Sofia, born June 7, 1877, Elin
Kristina, born August 22, 1880, and Naëmi Emma, born May 19, 1882, all
born in Skarstad. A son Calmar shows up in South Star, SK. Canada in
1903, likely born after the family emigrated to America May 15, 1885-
the oldest daughter, Augusta had emigrated in 1884-
Their destination in America is a mystery, I suspect Minnesota. Anders,
his wife, Inga, the daughter Emma Naëmi, and Calmar move to Star City
(South Star district), Saskatchewan in 1903 homesteading. The parents
lives there..Emma married Olaf Erickson and they lived their lives there
with their own descendants, which I have record of. What happened to
all the rest of them? Some, I suspect came to Canada, the one using the
name Karly did for sure.
Brita Andreasdotter, born April 16, 1841 also at Magra, she had a daughter, Maria, born November 2, 1870-----no sign of her in America
Johannes Andreasson (John Anderson) born March 15 (or 17) 1847 in Magra,----this one is my
grandfather, but I have accounted for him. He was married to Brita Kijsa ?? aka Betsy in Carver County, but I can not find the supporting documentation in court records and
remarried a Karin Nordahl in about 1883 after Betsy died. He died in Canada in March, 1916.
He emigrated to America 1869-destination: Red Wing, MN- shows up in Madison,
MN in August 1873.
Christina Andreasdotter, born October 21, 1851, in Magra, emigrated to America, 1870, destination, Jamestown. Married ???Johnson and had a son John H. Johnson..born about1872.....lived in the Madison, MN area for a
while. John. H. Johnson married about 1900 his cousin Beda Anderson, daughter of John Anderson. This family moved to Kerman,CA . where they have a fruit farm in 1910. Were there any other children born to Christina and her Johnson husband?
Josephine Anderson-born perhaps 1880 unknown location..some relative of the Andersons. I have a picture of her. ThatÂ’s it. Beautiful lady that
I would like to fit in the family tree.
I have a few pictures I could scan and send.
