I am a great granddaughter of raymond apers. His son clifford is my grandfather. Clifford served in the Marines in world war 2 and still alive. I think he is 84 years old. I can recall visiting raymond as a child when he lived in miami. From what i remember my grandfathers mother died when he was three years old- she was pregnant and they were going on a picnic- she tried to jump a fence and got caught up on it. from what my grandfather remembers- the emergency people came to late and his mother bled to death. Grandma Haas was a very stern German woman and told Raymond that he could not handle raising his children after his wife died, and the kids got farmed off to the mothers sisters to be raised. My grandfather went to live with one of the Haas sisters, and his two brothers- Raymond Jr. and (I can't remember the other brothers name at the moment) went to other sisters to be raised. they also had a sister- Shirley - who grandma Haas decided to raise herself.I have tried to look up connections with the Apers family before and have only gotten addresses in Belguim which my grandfather says his father is from. There was a rumor when he was a child that he came from Belgian royalty- but he dosn't know if his dad was kidding or not. please e-mail back if you have any info that would be interesting.
