Edwin R. CURTIS was born in St. Lawrence Co., New York on May 8th, 1853 and died at his home in Lawton, June 16, 1910, aged 57 years, 1 month, and 8 days.
Mr. Curtis moved to Michigan from New York in 1863, settling in Marcellus. He was married to Miss Mary CROWLEY of Porter in 1879 and moved to his farm in Porter in 1880. To this union was born one son, Bert, in 1880, who died at the age of 24, just as he was merging in manhood. The grief sustained by the loss of his only child was so great that the father never quite recovered, and in the last days of his life his mind and interest were in the welfare of his boy, referring to him and speaking of him in a very affectionate way.
Mr. Curtis leaves to mourn, his wife, and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah RENCH of Cassopolis, Mrs. Mary HUNT and Mrs. Ella HOLLIDAY of Marcellus. Interment was in Decatur Cemetery.
