Sturgis; WW II veteran Samuel A. NACCARATO, 71, of 1330 E. Rishel Dr., Sturgis, died July 7, 1997, at his home.
He was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Clarkburg, W.Va., a son of Sam and Rose (CAIRO) NACCARATO.
A WW II veteran, he served with the U.S. Army.
On Jan. 25, 1947, he married Betty PILON in Ecorse. He was a Sturgis resident since moving here from Riverview in 1984.
Most of his life was spent in the Detroit area, where he worked for 30 years at Great Lakes Steel, whose parent company was National Steel, and retired in 1979.
He was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church and former member of the Klinger Lake Country Club and the Monroe Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Carol NACCARATO and Alice GIEBER, both of Sturgis; one grandson, Zachery GIEBER of Sturgis; half sister, Rosemary SOBO of Wyandotte; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one half brother.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass is at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Leon H. Pohl officiating.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Sturgis or Sturgis Home Health Care. Envelopes are available at the Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home Ltd of Sturgis, which handled the arrangements.
