Passed away Monday, September 9, 2002 at Heartland Health Care after a lengthy illness. He was born February 5, 1926 in Pontiac, MI, the son of Claude and Esther (Stade) Andress. Ted served his country in the U.S. Air Force. In 1948 he married C. Joyce Milliman. He was very active in the Three Rivers Community when moving here 26 years ago. He was a member of the Three Rivers Lions Club, chairman of Sight & Blind, a faithful member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, an elder and member of the choir, American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170. His many hobbies included golf, bridge, art and travel to Mexico, Europe and Russia. He had a one man art show at Carnegie Center for the Arts in Medium of Oil on Paper. He was employed by the Oakland Press and Detroit Free Press as a stereotyper. Before moving to this area he owned and operated Andress Galleries and Custom Frame Shop in Pontiac for 6 years. At the age of 58 ye returned to school and received his degree in mortuary sciences at Wayne State University. He was employed by Hohner Funeral Home for 25 years. He is survived by his sons, Hal B. (Carole) Andress of Orlando, FL, and Scott Andress of Grand Rapids; daughter, Kathi Andress of Pontiac, MI; brother, Norman (Mary Ann) Andress of Hammond, IN; sisters, Jeanette Evjen and Judy Andress of Pontiac, MI, and Nancy (Dennis) Doucette of Goodrich, MI; the mother of his children, C. Joy Andress; grandchildren, Tony Andress, Erin Andress, Sarah, Matthew, Megan and Lindsey Andress; and great-grandchildren, Anthony and Cameron Andress; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Shirley Blum. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother. Visitation will be held Friday, September 13, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hohner Funeral Home, Three Rivers. Services will be held Saturday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Three Rivers, with Rev. Timothy Azzam officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers. Military honors will be under the auspices of American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170 of Three Rivers, MI. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Carnegie Center for the Arts or the charity of one's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
