I have been trying to get records for my great grand aunt and uncle who both died at Grafton State Hospital almost 100 years ago. I too was told (last week) that one can no longer be appointed Voluntary Administrator just for the purpose of accessing medical records. Only alternative (per a person in the Probate Office at the Worc. County Courthouse) is to go thru the formal or informal executor process - more difficult and more expensive. I told all this to my contact at Worcester State Hospital's medical records (Bridget - a real peach) and she knew nothing about this rule change - and she promised to call the Probate Office and discuss with them. We shall see. Anyone have any better luck recently? or any ideas?
