Thanks for your quick reply.
Leopold Laporte appears on the 1900 census. On this census he is 23, married and living with his sister, Malvina and her daughter Reine. Also in the household are his half brother Casimir Mathieu(erroneously recorded as Laporte). Marie L Laporte was listed as the married sister-in-law to Malvina. Mom, Roseline LaGroux(I got Roseline's maiden name from Leopold's actual death certificate On that certificate, his father was listed as Louie Laporte. It took me years to locate the death certificate because Leopold's last name was misspelled as "Leport")
By the 1920 census Leopold may have already moved to New Orleans. I think this because he and my Grandmother Camille(a) Guillaume had the first of their 6 children in New Orleans on Jan, 14, 1921.
If you know where I can get a lead on Marie-Louise Laporte, that could help. Is the St John the Baptist Catholic Church still in existence there? What about the graveyard?
Thanks so much
