Thanks so much Andrea,
I have found the Assevedo lineage at one of the Los Islenos
festivals. Miguel Assevedo, my great grandfather, never
named any of his children after is mother, Virgina. Took
me a while to figure his parents out, but I happened to meet
Miguel's sisters grandchildren at the festival and we got it all straightened out.
There is a undocumented story about Miguel and his siblings being taken in by a plantation owner. I do not know what happened to Virginia after 1880, so she is a mystery. I guess I need to go back to St. Bernard and find where she is buried.
The girl Miguel married was Marie Martinez. She is the daughter of Andres Martinez born in Barcelona Spain and
Dorothea Guerra, St. Bernard, La. Dorothea Guerra is the daughter of Joseph Guerra and Francesca Gutierrez.
Dorothea Guerra died in Biloxi, but was laid to rest in St. Bernard, La.
So I need to find both of these Grandmother's grave.
I would like to know more about Dorothea Guerra. Andres Martinez and she were married in 1870 in St. Bernard just by reading the census. I would like to find their exact
marriage date and any of their childrens birth or christenings. Thanks again Andrea. I will try and purchase the book you suggested.
