I am researching the Carlin family of St Mary's parish. I have found that Joseph Carlin worked on the de Bore plantation in St Charles Parish after he left the militia.4 sons were born according to some records on the de Bore plantation. One son, Celestin Carlin, born June 7, 1768 was baptised by Father Dagobert in St Charles Parish and the godparents were Jean Baptiste Lange and a THERESE De BORE according to St Mary Parish, LA Heirship Series Vol 1 complied by Mary Elizabeth Sanders.
The only Therese de Bore I can find mentioned anywhere is the mother of Etienne de Bore. The stories I have read make it sound like Etienne's parent's took him to France to be educated at age 4 and he came back to Louisiana only with his wife. Could this Therese de Bore listed as godparent to my Celestin be the mother of Etienne de Bore? Any other records around 1768 for that area of families, plantations, etc. that may help?
Thanks so much!
