Mary Mauzy Wilkey, a Centenarian who lived in three centuries, died Thursday, July 18 at her home in Providence. She was 102 years old.
Born in Dixon, she was the daughter of the late Benton W. and Sallie Lisman Mauzy.
She was a lifelong Presbyterian and very active in the Presbyterian churches in Dixon, Providence and Madisonville. Among her interests were the Providence Garden Club and Providence Book Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Wilkey; two sisters, Eva Mauzy and Frances Fortenberry; a brother Wayne Mauzy; a daughter, Sara Wilkey Leavitt and a grandson, Mark Leavitt.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Jean Wilkey of Shreveport, Louisiana, a son-in-law, Don Leavitt, St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 from Townsend-Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Lon Lorten officiating.
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery at Dixon.
Pallbearers were Ben Wilkey, Bill Wilkey, Eric Wilkey, Greg Laurence, Kenneth Phillips, Tom McLean, Don Leavitt and Jon Salmon. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Kuykendall and Orman Wright. **
