Shirley C. Moody, 81, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, was a lifelong resident of Evansville's West Side. He was employed for 21 years at Alcoa Warrick Operations, Newburgh, Ind., and retired as a supervisor in vehicle maintenance in 1985.

Mr. Moody was a member of Lessing Masonic Lodge No. 464, the Scottish Rite, the Hadi Shrine Temple, the Vanderburgh County Historical Society, the Indiana Historical Society, the Evansville Zoological Society, the Westside Improvement Association, the Tri-State Packet Genealogical Society, the Henderson County Public Library, the Webster County Historical and Genealogical Society, the Kentucky Historical Society and the Virginia Genealogical Society.

He compiled several volumes of family records and had placed copies of them in numerous Genealogical Libraries, including The Kentucky Historical Society, and the DAR in Washington, D.C. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Salt Lake City, Utah, has microfilm copies. Also, he compiled and published three volumes of Henderson County, Kentucky marriage records, and the 1810-1840 Henderson County, Kentucky, census records. Before his death, he had compiled nearly 18,000 names in a computer genealogical software program of those persons whose ancestry began in Henderson and Webster Counties, Kentucky.

He is survived by two sons, David Moody and his wife, Sandy of Patoka, Ind., and Daniel Moody and his wife, Mary of Wadesville, Ind; a daughter, Barbara Ramsey and her husband, Don of Evansville; 5 grandchildren, Amber Elkins, Matthew Moody, Heather Campbell, Robert Moody and Melissa Ramsey; and 2 great-grandchildren, Samantha Elkins and Raven Cimbalnik.
