Polly Spears Burden, 90 of Ashbyburg, died Monday, March 21 at Riverside
Manor Nursing Home in Calhoun.
A native of Hopkins County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Eliza
She was a homemaker and attended the Jewell City Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey
Burden and two sons, Joseph Spears in 1956 and Dual Spears in 1996; five
sisters and six brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Carletta Troutman of Calhoun; two sons, Texal
Spears of Ashbyburg and Ben T. Spears of Dixon; eight grandchildren; twelve
great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2:00 o'clock from Tompkins
Funeral Home Slaughter-Hanson Chapel with Rev. Ron Hampton and Bro. Ryan
Burial will be in new Salem Cemetery at Slaughters.
Active pallbearers will be John Spears, Jarred Troutman, Danny Spears, Thomas
Spears, Willie Clayton and Edward Sizemore.
Honorary pallbearers are Seth Spears, Calvin Spears, Willie Clayton, III, Ross
Sizemore, Corbin Wilson, Caleb Wilson and Brian Wilson.
