Funeral services for Mrs. R. L. Marshall were held here Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home with the Rev. E. P. Gast in charge. Burial was in Brookside. Mrs. Marshall had been in bad health for several months and had been critically ill for several weeks. She died at the home Friday. Mrs. Marshall, a native of the county, was formerly Mrs. Elizabeth Christie, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Russell Christie who were residents of the Merrimac section. Mrs. Marshall was beloved by many. She was a talented soloist and musician, was devoted to her church, The First Christian Church, where she taught the boys class for several years. She was a former president of the Woman's Club and was active in the club, and the various church organizations and her services as a vocalist were in great demand. Mrs. Marshall attended school at Beaumont College at Harrodsburg and was later employed with the Marshall Field Co., in Chicago. She was a member of the Choral Club there for several years. Besides her husband, Mrs. Marshall is survived by a sister and two brothers: Mrs. Prentice Kersten, Cleveland, Ohio; C. P. Douglass, West Ritchfield, Ohio; and Ben Douglass, Cleveland, Ohio. She also leaves five nephews: Jimmie Ritchie, Cleveland; Douglass, Donald, William and Proctor Douglass Jr., West Ritchfield, Ohio; and an aunt, Mrs. Ben Wooley, city. Pallbearers were: Ira Vaughn, John A. Jones, Henry Parrott, Tyler Parrott, G. J. Rice, and O. J. Patton. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, June 8, 1944
