Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Bookout, 58 years of age, were held Saturday afternoon May 1 at 2 o’clock from the Mannsville Methodist Church with Rev. Fountain Cox in charge, assisted by Rev. C. S. Raney. Burial was in the Mann Cemetery near Mannsville. Mrs. Bookout, daughter of the late William and Lou Brown was born in Casey County in 1889. She died at the home of her son, George P. Woodrum near Mannsville on Thursday, April 29. She professed faith at an early age in life and was a member of the Mannsville Methodist Church. She united in marriage to Welby Woodrum 44 years ago and to this union 3 sons were born: George P. Woodrum, Roy Everett Woodrum, and Oliver L. Woodrum of Caneyville, Ky. In 1934 she united in marriage with Willie Bookout, who preceded her in death December 1947. She is also survived by 5 brothers and 2 sisters, Willie, Tom, Frank and John Henry Brown, all of this county; Bennie and George Brown, both of Marion County, Mrs. Sallie Purdy of Casey County and Mollie McCuller of Buffalo, N. Y. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Faye Carroll, Eugene Tungate, Eddie B. Mann, Beckham Mann, Sanford Childers, and Joe Phillips.
