This is not my family. Gilbert L. (Buck) Abbott Sr., of La Grange, died at Veterans Hospital in Louisville on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999. He was a farmer, an Army veteran of World War II, the recipient of a purple heart, two bronze stars and several other medals, and a member of Henry County Disabled American Veterans #155 and Christ Open Door Church in Sligo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie; a son; two brothers, Lloyd and Clarence Abbott; and four sisters, Helen Wright, Corine Payton, Mary Law and Verdie Patty. Survivors include three sons, Gilbert Lee Abbott Jr. of Pendleton, James Neal Abbott of Bedford and Chester Raymond Abbott of Eminence; two daughters, Mary Helen Frye of Bedford and Rebecca Aldridge of La Grange; two sisters, Lillian Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sara Payton of La Grange; four half sisters Gertrude Wade, Minnie Sriven and Ruby Butel, all of Pleasureville, and Doris Marple of Smithfield; four half brothers, Junior, C.W., Frank and Warnney Abbott, all of Sulphur; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford with burial in Sulphur Cemetery. Sister Linda Morgan officiated at the services. A military service was held at the grave site. Pallbearers were Shannon Abbott, Richard Abbott, Billy Frye Jr., Tony Sheffield, Shawn Brierly and John Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers were DAV members
