Iona Pepper Bale, 78, of Green County, Ky. died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky. Daughter of the late Richard "Dick" Pepper and Bertha Mae Price Pepper, she was born on May 14, 1925 in Green County, Ky. and was a member of Summersville Baptist Church. Bale was a former seamstress at Clark Casual in Greensburg and was a homemaker. She was married to Finis Bale on April 30, 1946, who preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Linda L. Crews of Campbellsville and Phyllis S. Bale of Greensburg; one sister and two brothers, Opal Goff and Elroy Pepper, both of Campbellsville, and Dewey Pepper of Louisville; and one grandson, Rusty Crews of Campbellsville. One sister, Leona Milby, also preceded her in death. Funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday Aug. 29 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Roger Pepper and the Rev. Gary Durham officiated. Pallbearers were Tommy Tapscott, Dewey Pepper Jr., Eugene Pepper, W.D. Chaney, Jeff Pepper and Hollis Bale. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Summersville Baptist Church.
