Steve Sumner, 65, of Princeton, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., following a long illness.

Born June 13, 1947, in Caldwell County, a son of the late Eulis Lloyd and Leona Baker Sumner, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Joelton, Tenn., and was retired owner and operator of Sumner Automotive.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bennie Sumner.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Beckner Sumner; a son, Dana Sumner of Caldwell County; two stepsons, Dusty Baker and Morgan Baker, both of Caldwell County; a granddaughter, Haley Harris; and four step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. David Royalty and the Rev. Bobby Jackson, Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. (Princeton, Ky.)

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home.
