Sara Lee Aikins, 87, of Princeton, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at 12:25 a.m. at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., following a short illness.

Born Nov. 8, 1925, in Trigg County, a daughter of the late Guy Kelly and Topsy Wyatt Overbey, she was owner of Denham’s Jewelry and a member of Ogden Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rueben Aikins; a son, Anthony Luke Aikins; a great-grandson, Laikin Kale Rowland; and a son-in-law, Larry Rowland.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Paxton of Princeton and Kelly Rowland of Caldwell County; two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Vicki Aikins of Caldwell County, and Matthew and Rita Aikins of Benton; 14 grandchildren and spouses, Jaye Lynn and Dann Hughes, Chancie and Todd Goodwin, Dr. Katie and Ken Parker, Ashley and Steve Battram, Shelley and Barry Oakley, John Paul and JaLynn Rowland, Andrew Rowland, Sara and Albert Gill, Trevor and Kari Aikins, Jamie and Jenna Aikins, Chase Aikins, Chelsey Aikins, Hannah Aikins and Elliott Aikins; 24 great-grandchildren, Jesse Hughes, Dr. Savannah and Kevin Daugherty, Caitlyn and Joey Traughber, Maura Hughes, Amanda Goodwin, Forrest Goodwin, Grey Goodwin, Oliver Parker, Karsyn Parker, Luke Parker, Zoie Battram, Nicholas Battram, Evan Oakley, Reece Oakley, Marin Oakley, Grace Rowland, Cade Rowland, Devon Rowland, Lola Aikins, Mia Aikins, Hudson Aikins, Morgan Aikins, Pax Aikins and Michael Bommarito; a brother and sister-in-law, Louard and Mary Lynn Overbey of Greenville; and a sister, Betty Forgy of Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Gary Graves officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. (Princeton, Ky.)

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
