Dave, here's the info on Bertha Embry who m. Depew Embry.

Bertha's parents were Wiley Embry, b. 1/1/1871, and Elizabeth Taylor, daugher of William Taylor. Wiley and Elizabeth had five (5) children. They were: (1) Clarence Embry who m. Cora Embry (2) Pendleton "Pete" Embry who m. Lillian Lee (3) BERTHA EMBRY who m. DEPEW EMBRY (4) Bulla "Beulah" Embry who m. David Sharer (5) Edith Embry who m. Ebon Burns.

Bertha's father was one of the three Embry children who escaped the Wiley S. Embry fire. My gggrandmother carried him from the fire before collapsing outside. The fire killed Wiley and seven of his children when their home was burglarized on the night of 1/28/1881. If you have not heard this story, let me know and I will send it to you.

Wiley Embry's father was Wiley S. Embry b. 10/12/1830 in Madison Co. KY, d. 1/28/1881 in Lee, Butler Co., KY. Wiley S. Embry was the son of Golson Embry and Mary Polly Sublett(Mary Polly's line of Subletts were Hugenots. I have their line back to the early 1600's in France); Golson was the son of Cader and Francis Sebastian, Cader was the son of William "Grancer" and Nancy. On 5/24/1853, Wiley S. Embry married Mary Abigail Bacon, b. 10/12/1838, d. 7/15/1899. Mary Bacon was also know as Mary Phelps, since she was raised in a Phelps household. Her parents were Jonathan E. Bacon and Elizabeth "Betsy" Phelps. I am working on Jonathan Bacon's line but haven't gotten any further yet. But Elizabeth was the daughter of Nicholas Phelps and Mary Biggerstaff. Nicholas was the son of William Phelps and Nancy Nail, who were involved in the indian massacre at Pittman's Station in Green co. KY. Nancy was killed in the attack.

In addition to Wiley, Wiley S. Embry and Mary Abigail Bacon had the following children: (1) Mary Jane Embry, b. 5/20/1854, d. 10/2/1898 in Butler Co., m. 12/10/1873 to Harlan Embry, (son of Mason Embry and Sylvia Yeager Bratcher Small) (2) Golson Embry, b. 1/24/1855, d. 1/28/1881 (3) Elizabeth Francis Embry, b. 10/5/1857, d. 2/3/1944, m. Almerine Palestine Embry (son of Isaac J. Embry, Jr. and Frances Embry) on 12/16/1876 (4)Julen N. Embry, b. 0/19/1859, d. 1/28/1881 (5) Sarah Bell Embry, b. 5/5/1861, d. 5/23/1937, m. George Wm. Ervin Haynes on 5/11/1881 (6) William P. Embry, b. 9/5/1863, d. 1/28/1881 (7)Mahala jane Embry, b. 3/25/1865, d. 1/28/1881 (8) Bedford Embry, b. 1/13/1867, d. 1/28/1881 (9) Seamore Embry, b. 7/31/1869, d. 1/28/1881 (10) Wiley Embry b. 1/1/1871, m. Elizabeth Taylor (11) Morgan Embery, b. 7/27/1873, d. 1/28/1881, (12) Edna Josephine Embry, b. 1/14/1878, d. 4/18/1956, m. 9/28/1892 to Ancil roger Embrey (son of Garrard Banks Embry and martha Lacefield)

Let me know if you have any questions on any of the above.

Dave, I think I'll send you some back copies of my Embry Newsletters. They have some stories, family lines, etc. you might find interesting. I'll try to get them in the mail tomorrow. Let me know when and if you receive them.
