L. B. COCKRELL was born in Montgomery County, Ky., July 25, 1859, and is a son of B. F. and Junietta (Oldham) Cockrell, a sketch of whom will be found above. L. B. Cockrell was educated at the Kentucky Military Institute, and for about one year was engaged in merchandising at Mt. Sterling, selling books and stationery. May 24, 1882, he married Miss Mattie H. Alison, of Putnam County, Ind., daughter of Harry and Bettie (Black) Alison. Two children have been born to this union, of whom one is living, Ben Alison. In 1883 Mr. Cockrell moved to Putnam County, where he remained four about four months, engaged in farming, when he returned to Clark County, Ky., where he has since been engaged in agricultural pursuits. He owns 150 acres of fine land. Mr. and Mrs. Cockrell are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. In politics Mr. Cockrell affiliates with the Democrats.
