Kentucky Genealogy and Biography, Volume 8B – Battle – Perrin – Kniffin, 1886.
ELI B. DOOLEY was born in Clark County, Ky., September 29, 1864, and is a son of Obadiah and Mary (Bean) Dooley. Obadiah Dooley was born in Clark County, Ky., April 23, 1816. He was a son of Obadiah and Anna (Irvin) Dooley, both natives of Virginia. Our subject’s father was one of Clark County’s best citizens, a live, active, energetic and enterprising farmer, who devoted his whole life to agricultural pursuits, and was as well posted and as deeply interested in every matter of interest to the agricultural and laboring classes as any man in the country. His neighbors and immediate friends always found him to be an able and judicious counselor, ever ready to assist by his counsel, or if need be by his means. His gifts to religious purposes and to charity were more than the common public knew of. He was married June 10, 1858, to Mary Bean, of Clark County, Ky., daughter of Eli and Sarah (Hall) Bean. Four children blessed this union: Sallie and Anna (dead), Eli B. and Asa. Asa was born June 19, 1896; Obadiah Dooley died September 28, `883. Eli B. Dooley immediately took charge of the farm, and although young he has rare talents and experience, and has been very successful.
