ARCHIBALD E. BREVARD, a native of Smith County, Tenn., was born July 20, 1836, and in 1849 was brought by his parents to Fulton County, Ky., where he has generally retained his residence to the present time. His father, Cyrus N. Brevard, was born in Lincoln County, N. C., in 1808, immigrated to Tennessee in childhood, and died in 1866. He was the son of John, a Revolutionary soldier of North Carolina. The family were Huguenots, and settled at Baltimore. Subject’s mother, Polyxena, daughter of Archy Miles, of Sumner County Tenn., died in 1842, at the age of thirty-six years. To Cyrus N. and her were born Nancy M. (Johnston), Minerva J. (McConnell), John A. (deceased), Caledonia C. (Miles), subject, and Mary E. (deceased). By his second wife were born Sarah W. (Piles) and Clarissa L. Subject received a good education. He was married October 25, 1866, to Miss Susan L. McConnell, of Fulton County. She was born in 1846 and died in 1881. He was next married, November 4, 1883, to Miss Henry A., daughter of Thomas and Charlotte (Applegate) Prather, of Fulton County, Ky. Mr. Brevard is engaged in farming and general trading, having 175 acres of good land. He is connected with the Masonic fraternity, the I.O.O.F. and the K. of H. In religion he is a Methodist and in politics a Democrat. He served through the late war.
