Adolph Owens Brown, 60, conductor with BNSF Railroad, died Saturday (Dec. 30, 2000) at Newton Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 27, 1940, to Owens and Lula (Manning) Brown in Morton, Miss. They preceded him in death.

He served with the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962. He moved to Newton in 2000 from Colvis, N.M.

Survivors include: a former wife, Muriel Brown-Werner of Newton; five sons, Greg Brown and Marcus Brown, both of Newton, Rodney Brown of Humbull, Conn., Derek Brown of La Junta, Colo., and Anthony Brown of Homewood, Ill.; two daughters, Sherri Dunn of Danville, Ky., and Cheryl Brown of Newton; two brothers, Pat Brown and Emmett Brown, both of Compton, Calif.; two sisters, Odessa Brown of Hawthorne, Calif., and Willie Mae Brown of Broadview, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by: two sons, Kirt Brown and Marvin Brown; and five brothers, Whitsel Brown, David Brown, Murphy Brown, Odell Brown and Churchill Brown.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Leonard F. Gray officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
