Doreen, I have further information to share on John Hoaglund. I believe he was born in Tverret, Alvsborg, Sweden on September 28, 1858, under the name Johan Leonard Andersson. You can find his Swedish records under that name. I believe he was a handlander, a merchant, probably one who traveled to sell items --perhaps textiles, as Alvsborg was a textile center. There were others in his family who did the same kind of work. He came to the United States in about 1881 and at some time adopted the last name Hoaglund/Hoagland. I think a lot of people in Sweden changed their names during this period, as Sweden transitioned away from its traditional way of naming sons and daughters based on the father's first name.
