Funeral services for 87-year-old Lillian Johnston of Columbus Junction, Iowa, will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery.
Visitation was Wednesday, Oct 25 at the funeral home from 4-8 pm with the family present.
Mrs. Johnston died Friday, Oct 20, 2000, at the Colonial Manor Care Center, Columbus Junction. A memorial has been established at the funeral home for the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Lillian Ann Wasson was born Dec 9, 1912, near Nichols, Iowa to Sam and Ida Martin Wasson. She married Everett Johnston Aug 17, 1932 in Rock Island, Ill. Everett preceded Lillian in death in 1985.
The couple had farmed and later were the owners and operators of the Johnston Butchering plant at Nichols until their retirement.
Lillian loved to tatt, knit and crochet. She was a wonderful cook and baker.
Lillian is survived by two daughters, Helen Kline and her husband Bill of Hills, Iowa, and Judy Voith and her husband Bob, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Keith Johnston and his wife Loueene of Shreveport, La., and Lawrence Johnston and his wife Renaye, Tulsa, Okla; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister Lila Mincer, Columbus Junction.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two granddaughters, a brother and two sons.
