If anyone happens to be in the Library looking up obituaries or articles, would you please mind looking for one on James Townsend who died at his son Timothy Wesley Townsend's house in Iowa City on October 8, 1904.
I have a scan of a tattered incomplete version of an obituary, which I believe probably comes from an Iowa City paper. It starts out;
James, son of Thomas and Hannah Townsend, was born in Knox county, Ohio, September 11, 1811, where he spent his early years among the hills and lovely woodlands around the old home, growing to manhood under the tender Christian care and influence of Godly parents.
There is a paragraph about his Underground Railroad days, his marriage to Susannah Rogers and then there is a photo of him. Then the obituary goes on from there.
