Unfortunately her obituary doesn't mention her parents. She died before death certificates were being used in Iowa.
Dickinson County was using death records starting in 1880, however, they probably aren't all inclusive that early in time. I'd contact the Dicksinson County Recorder's office and ask.

If you don't find his death notice there, I'd contact the Spencer Public Library, www.spencerlibrary.com/resources/genealogy.shtm
and ask about a copy of James newspaper death notice. His parents names might be in it. Successful Searching!
