I am looking at this Eizabeth Van Scyoc Keeler in Fremont Co., Iowa and how she connects to the Van Scyoc line of my family. I suspect the Ruth Van Scyoc MUSTARD and Elizabeth Van Scyoc KEELER may have been sisters to the "A." Van Scyoc but need proof. Biographies on the children of Elizabeth indicate they were born in Marion Co., IN.
Apparently, a Ruth Van Scyoc married a Wm Mustard who moves to Fremont Co., Iowa, an Elizabeth Van Scyoc Keeler does likewise (her husband being Seth), an "A." Van Scyoc (shows up spelled many ways) are all there on the 1850 Fremont Co., Ia census. He has wife Sarah, children Margaret, Franklin and from later regional census records Benton and Jackson. "A.'s" children are with these families by the 1860 census - no idea what happened to "A" or his wife on that census.
A Sarah Farley Van Scyoc marries in Sept. 1860 a Fletcher in the county.
I am trying to understand the MUSTARD-KEELER-VAN SCYOC connection and identify the name of this 1850 "A".
This man is often identified as Asbury R. Van Shoaick but that is not, I believe, correct. The family on the 1850 Andrew Co, MO census and the 1850 Fremont Co., IA census are not the same family.
Can you help?
