Rev. Myron S. Betts, Jr., 64, went to be with the Lord at 6 a.m. on January 20, 2011 in Wesleyan Health Care, Marion, Indiana.
Rev. Betts, was born in Marion, IN on January 22, 1946 to the late Myron S. Betts, Sr. and Patricia H. Lett Martemus.
Rev. Bett lived in Camden, Arkansas and Cleveland, Ohio and came back to Marion to be near his family in 2009.
He was a Marion High School graduate and later he served in the United States Air Force.
After his honorable discharge he began working as a security guard for nursing homes, he owned Betts Car Care in Arkansas, and cooked for several restaurants in Marion.
He was the minister at Son Light Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland and Hills Chapel in Weaver, Indiana.
He is survived by four children, Anthony W. (Zelda)Betts, Andrew Betts, Detroit, Michigan; Mylon S. Betts, Fort Wayne, IN; Tiffany A. Betts and Andrae M. Betts, both of Marion; three brothers, Michael L. (Katrina) Betts, Chillicothe, Ohio; David A. (Robyn) Betts, Montpelier, IN; Matthew H. (Melissa) Betts, Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Katrina L. Martinez and Wendy D. Martinez, both of Cleveland, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Xabri T. Carson.
Graveside services with military honors will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 in the Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana with the Rev. Scott Amos officiating.
Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion was entrusted with the arrangements.
