Charlie William Cox, 88, Marion, Indiana (Grant County) the son of the late Moses and Annie Lee (Boyd) Cox, was born June 25, 1925 in Ripley, Mississippi. (Tippah County)

He proudly served in the United States Army and bravely fought in WWII

He departed this life Monday, November 18, 2013 at Marion Veterans Administrative Hospital, Marion, Indiana.

Professing a hope in Christ at an early age, he joined Moses Chapel United Methodist Church.

Charlie married Frances Carter in 1944. To that union six children were born.
In 1975 he married Thelma Joyner. Four additional children were born to that union.

Charlie loved music and played the piano and guitar. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

. Charlie relocated to Marion, Indiana in 1955 and later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin until his illness required him to move back to Marion, IN in 2007.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memories: five daughters, Ruby (Otis) Dodson, Marion, IN, Charlotte Cox and Amy Cox, both of Memphis, TN, Joan Cox, Kokomo, IN and Anita Carter, Memphis, TN; seven sons: Charlie Cox, Larry (Jennifer) Cox and Billy Cox, all of Marion, IN, Tillison Cox, William Cox and Myricks Brooks, all of Memphis, TN; 47 grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren; 30 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Thomas Cox; one daughter, Mary Smith; four sisters, Mattie Johnson, Hattie Gray, Sallie Blackwell and Laura Clark; three brothers, George Cox, General Cox and Thomas Cox; one grandson, Antonio (Tooter) Johnson.

Funeral Service will be at 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 at Marion National Cemetery Protestant Chapel, 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, Indiana with Pastor Stanford Bolden officiating. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, November 25, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. - 12 noon prior to the service at the chapel.
