Mrs. Josephine Wasson, 73 years old, wife of Henry Wasson and former Shelby county resident, died at the family home in Hope Thursday, a victim of pneumonia. She had been ill for several months, but her condition became serious several days ago.
Mrs. Wasson was the daughter of James B. and Mary Smith, and was born in Milford, Decatur county, February 11, 1860, where she spent her early life. On September 1, 1881, she was married at Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Wasson went to Shelby county soon afterward to live. Later the family came to Bartholomew county and settled in Hope in 1919. Mrs. Wasson united with the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shelby county in 1883. She transferred her membership to the Hartsville Christian church, which she attended faithfully for thirty years.
Besides the husband she leaves two sons, Paul Wasson, of east of Hope and Earl Wasson, who lives near Geneva. Four grandchildren, Dorothy, Edith, Stella and Ernest Wasson, also survive. A son Frank, who was in the naval service, died at the Great Lakes Training Station in May 1919.
