DEAD AT 104
The Oldest Man in Southern Indiana Passes Away
On Sunday night Nathanial Straughn died at the age of 104.
Had he lived until May 8th he would have added another year to his life.
He had been confined to his room for several years and the last four years had been very near blind. On account of ill health he failed to vote for many years, but although a life long Republican, expressed a desire last fall of being taken to the polls to vote for William Jennings Bryan, but was prevented on account of his feeble condition. He has been making his home with relatvies about four miles south-east of English, and his home was the occasion of a large gathering of people on May 8th , his birthday, each year. The remains were buried in the Beasley grave yard, Monday.
