Killed instantly Wednesday near Grammar in a quarry when a derieck [sic] fell in, in Jennings County. He was 65. He is survived by his father, William H Day, of Madison who is a Civil War Veteran, age 92; his widow; eight children, William [Day], Hubert [Day], Jessie Clyde [Day] at home; Mrs Manless Wainscott of Ghent, Kentucky, Guy [Day] of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs James Mix of Rising Sun, Mrs Frank Durham of Edinburg and Mrs Ray Zeigler of Hope, [Bartholomew Co, IN]; two brothers, William [Day] and Dudley Day; one sister Mrs Phoebe Blighton. A daughter, Pearl [Day], died in 1905 at age 21. Funeral service was Friday at the Hope Baptist Church with burial at Hope.
