I am looking for obit info for a Bernard Smith who drowned in June 1912 in Metropolis while he was "musselling". I found some old letters that a girl named Emma Davis claims to be pregnant with his baby. Bernard was born about 1894 and was from Spencer, IN. He and some friends had moved to Metropolis to work shortly before he died.
I would also like more info about the Emma Davis person. Her name was apparently Emma Everly and she was living with her aunt (Anna Rebecca Everly Davis) and uncle (George T. Davis). I know she had Bernard's child after he died. She may have died early since I found the baby living with Bernard's mother in the 1920 census. I can't find anything about Emma after the 1910 census.
Letters are interesting family story. I have a public tree if anyone is interested. These people are not related to me...just letters I bought at the flea market and have become obsessed with putting puzzle back together. :-)
