I have now satisfied myself that 1) Michael CHOATE in 1860 Butler County, MO (born about 1832 in TN) is indeed 2) Michael CHOATE, son of Arthur Choate, born about 1828 in Wayne County, TN.
I suspected the connection for years, based on the following:
Michael of Tennessee disappears and Michael of Missouri appears
The name Litle/Lydle/Liddel appears throughout both families
Numerous other smaller coincidences.
However, none of this was sufficient proof, until I did the DNA. The DNA results on ancestry included THREE "extremely likely" cousins, all of whom are descendants of Arthur's grandfather. Also conclusively, there were ZERO DNA matches to other CHOATEs.
I am now satisfied that my Michael b. 1828 was the last son of Arthur CHOATE from Choate's Bend on the Buffalo River in Wayne County, TN. It has already been established that Arthur and his line go back to the "southern" Choates from Choate's Fancy, Baltimore, MD.
I've been working 7 years on this question. The DNA broke down that brick wall.
