This is a newspaper clipping from the scrapbook of my grandmother Frieda Button Kehl. Mrs. John Button was her grandmother and this grandmother's maiden name was Miranda (or Marinda) Wilcox. She died the 16th or 17th of January 1925. The newspaper is probably the Jacksonville paper.
The death of Mrs. John Button occurred at 3 o'clock this morning at the residence of her son, Charles Button, 315 East Washington Street. Mrs. Button had been in failing health for several years, and death was due to complications incident to old age. She was 91 years of age.
Mrs. Button was born Oct. 21, 1833 in the state of Vermont and had been a resident of Jacksonville since 1882. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Button, some thirty years ago.
She leaves one son, Charles Button of this city. Another son, Fred Button died a year ago in New Orleans, La., while he was in service with the United States Marines.
Mrs. Button was a member of the Baptist Church. Her life was one of service and kind deeds and she will be missed by many friends.
The remains were prepared for burial at the funeral parlors of Arthur G. Cody. Funeral services will be held at the residence of the son, 315 East Washington street at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment is in Jacksonville Cemetery.
