The Highland Park Public Library has a web site. You can find it by typing in Highland Park Public Library, click on Explore Highland Park, then Local History and finally Highland Park Local History. There is a picture and short description of the original Railroad Men’s Retirement Home. I have the following information from the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Lake County Illinois, Deerfield Township, Highland Park Illinois taken April 12, 1930, Enumeration District #21, at the Railroad Men’s home located at 929 South Saint Johns Avenue. Edgar Nelson, Male, White, 76, Widower, literate, born in Nova Scotia (Canada-English), Father and Mother born in Nova Scotia, language spoken in home before coming to the U.S.: English, immigrated to U.S. in 1877, able to speak English: yes, Occupation: none, Veteran: No. The phone number for the Library is 847-432-0126, the Moraine Township # is 847-432-3240 (cemetery files) and the Historical Society number - 847-432-7090 open: Tu. thru Fri. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I hope this helps.
