SODA SPRINGS - Olive Irene Richardson Kelly, 94, of Soda Springs, passed away Monday, December 6, 2004, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center.She was born December 8, 1909, at Rockland, Idaho, the daughter of Louis Vincent and Nellie Webb Richardson. Olive married Arthur Alfred Kelly January 1, 1930, at American Falls, Idaho. He passed away December 30, 1993.

Olive was raised and educated at Rockland and American Falls, Idaho, before coming to Soda Springs in 1941. She had attended elementary and high school at Rockland, and attended Albion State Normal School.

She was a member of the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church. She served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher. She was a member of the Mary Anna Circle, organizer of youth group and advisor, sang in the choir, and was elder, president and secretary of Presbyterian Women. She had received an honorary life membership and a 50-year pin.

Olive had worked at the Rockland Post Office, at the Iris Theater in American Falls, news reporter for Power County Press in American Falls, co-manager of IdanHa Theater in Soda Springs, J.C. Penney clerk in Soda Springs, she served as the Caribou County Courthouse recorder and clerk, and she taught kindergarten in Soda Springs for 19 years.

Olive was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America; she held various offices. She was also a member of the Soda Springs Golf Club ladies' auxiliary, and had served as president and secretary. Her hobbies included reading, music, sports, dance, playing golf, playing bridge and pinochle, hand work and raising flowers. She traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, Mexico and several foreign countries, and the Caribbean.

Olive is survived by three grandsons and their spouses, Jerry and Mary Poulsen, Aurora, Colo., Dr. James and Becky Poulsen, Boise, Idaho, Terry and Teresa Poulsen, Soda Springs, Idaho. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Louis Ray Richardson, Pittsburg, Calif. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nelly Lou Poulsen, two sisters, Louise Cowman and Jennie Morris, and one brother, Clarence Richardson.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 10 at noon at the Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Helen Young officiating.

Friends may call on Thursday evening, Dec. 9 at the Sims Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m., and on Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to leaving for the church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. The family suggests donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church, Idaho Youth Ranch or charity of choice. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
