Surnames: John, Ward, Hall

Dr. John passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013. He was born on January 3, 1920 to Thomas James John and Rosa Elizabeth Ward in Woodruff, Idaho. He married Flora Kathrine Hall in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 10, 1950. They built two homes together, one in Brigham City and their long-term home in North Ogden. They were both musically talented and graciously entertained at senior citizen programs, funerals, and many other events including the Weber County Fair.

He served as a classroom teacher and administrator in the Weber School District and as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the State of Utah Department of Public Instruction. He also served as an adjunct professor for Weber State College, University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Utah State University and the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Dr. John served in many church callings including Bishop, High Councilman, and as an officiator at the Ogden Temple. He participated as a lecturer in the LDS Church Education Week and Know Your Religion Programs for 25 years. He was well-known as a speaker and was sought after by many civic and church organizations.

He loved the Lord and his fellow beings. He was patient, kind, tender, loving, loyal and always placed the welfare of others ahead of his own. Everyone who left his presence did so with a greater feeling of self-worth and a feeling that their burdens had been lightened.

He is survived by his three children: Mikhail (Janice) John, Ogden; Janene John, Kaysville; Rose Marie (Robert) Empey, Pleasant View; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 5th Ward Chapel, 626 East 2600 North, North Ogden. Friends and family may call at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Boulevard, Ogden from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18th and at the church on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Willard Cemetery in Willard, Utah

In lieu of flowers pleas donate to the LDS Church missionary fund.
